"Towards A Moving Design"

An overview of recent work and experiments reflecting the spirit of curiosity, innovation, and a dedication to craft.

For over 25 years, Mr. Valicenti has practiced graphic design, typography, and strategic image making at his design studio called Thirst. Selections of his work are now in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Denver Art Museum, and the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. In 2004, Monacelli Press published the monograph of Thirst called Emotion as Promotion, and in 2006, he was awarded the AIGA Medal, the highest recognition in the graphic design profession.

Recently he has been focusing his energies toward expanding the culture of design, by both mentoring the next design generation, and contributing to the discourse within the profession. To insure that these professional goals come to life and grow sustainably, he has co-founded a research initiative called Moving Design.
