Design Denied Curriculum
added as course at SAIC

A three year project by Archeworks students that investigated the withholding of good design is now a course at the School of The Art Institute in Chicago (SAIC). The book that documents the investigation, Design Denied : The Withholding of Good Design and Its Ethical Implications, funded by the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, was released in May 2005. Written and edited by Archeworks students, the book included a curriculum for a college course that was proposed to design schools across the country.  Professor Lisa Norton at SAIC launched the course in February 2006 as part of the City of Chicago's "Green Zone" program at the school that explores the important subject of how to communicate the aesthetics and benefits of sustainable practices and communities in provocative and innovative ways. The course is expected to be offered again in 2007.
