Archeworks Bicycle Helmet Top Nominee at INDEX 2007 International Design Award

Archeworks’s re-designed bicycle helmet--the “IHT-Improved Helmet Technology”--has been selected as one of 112 Top Nominated designs for INDEX: AWARD - the world’s biggest design award in the category of “Play.”

The top nominees for INDEX: AWARD were announced at a press conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in February 2007. A total of 340 designs from all over the world were originally nominated for the award, and the international jury has now shortlisted 112 top nominees, including the IHT, representing all seven continents.

Of these 112 top nominees, five awards will be presented in the categories of Body, Home, Work, Play and Community. Each award is worth €100 000 and the awards are presented every second year. The five awards will be presented at an official ceremony at Copenhagen City Hall on August 24, 2007.

The winning entries represent the finest Design to Improve Life as selected by the international Jury on the basis of nominations made by 188 of the world’s leading professional design institutions. Because of the INDEX: AWARD focus on Design to Improve Life, the nominated designs will be evaluated not only in terms of form like most traditional design, but also specifically in respect of the impact and context of the design.

The Archeworks’s IHT team of was comprised of five students including Andrew Buhayar, Clemence Roger, Timothy Sola and Martin Syvertsen with backgrounds in Architecture, Accounting, Industrial Design, and Political Science. The team was facilitated by graphic designer Jason Pickleman, with consultation from Archeworks’s Co-Founders Stanley Tigerman and Eva Maddox.

Archeworks’s KURUMONO KITCHEN Project (a circular, modular kitchen for people with disabilities) was selected as a finalist in the INDEX: 2005 Awards.
