The Water Front Tuesday, Mar 24, 2009 at 6pm What if you lived by the largest body of fresh water in the world but could no longer afford to use it? So begins Liz Miller’s new documentary, “The Water Front”, which follows one of the first water battles playing out in the United States. Residents of Highland Park, known as the birthplace of the auto-industry, have received water bills as high as $10,000; they have had their water turned off, their homes foreclosed, and are in the midst of a fight to keep their water from becoming privatized. “The Water Front” follows one woman’s struggle to organize a grassroots campaign to keep her home and defend affordable water as a basic human right. The film is an unnerving indication of what is in store for residents around the world facing an impending global water crisis. (53 minutes, 2007). ADMISSION: by donation SPACE IS LIMITED.
