Homeostasis 2030

The Archeworks team was challenged to design a new model for inter-generational housing for the Aging Baby boomers providing assistive living concepts, state of the art technology and design innovation. The "baby boomers" population will reach the age of 65 in the Year 2010. Design Futures is to focus the Senior Housing project for occupancy 2010.

The result was Homeostasis 2030, a new housing concept. The Homeostasis model was designed to address the housing needs of our changing and--increasingly mobile--population.

As its name implies, the Homeostasis concept is based on the idea of flexibility and maintaining a stable living environment in response to changes that occur around us. It allows occupants to reconfigure their living space as their needs change. And, ultimately, it should help the elderly "age in place," and maintain their independence for as long as possible.
