Mobi's World2003-04 The Archeworks team was challenged to design and create educational products that teach children about people with disabilities. There are few educational products on the market that teach children about people with disabilities. Most people will have a disability in their lifetime yet most children and adults have little understanding about what it means to have a disability. The team determined that the product would become a marketable media
property that would appeal to children with and without disabilities.
Through extensive knowledge seeking, working one on one with health
professionals, educators and school aged children both with and without
disabilities, the team came up with an interactive, multi-media package
centered around a loveable, above-the-knee prosthetic leg named Mobi. Mobi’s character developed through a video game designed by the team called Mobi’s World. Characters in the game portray different disabilities, including a prosthetic arm, an inhaler, and a pair of eyeglasses. Mobi and his friends invite children into an imaginative world that educates them about different disabilities through the vehicle of play. The package consists of prototypes of the flash videogame, an interactive website, character trading cards, children’s book outlines and merchandising items such as stuffed animals and t-shirts. Big picture views of this project include a television series and an animated feature Contact Email: |
