homeostasis  1. the tendency to maintain internal stability while automatically responding to and compensating for change.  2. a new form of housing that meets the needs of a constantly changing society.

Welcome!

Homeostasis 2030 is a new housing concept, developed by the Senior Housing team at Archeworks, Chicago's Alternative Design School and Laboratory.

The Homeostasis model was designed to address the housing needs of our changing and--increasingly mobile--population.

As its name implies, the Homeostasis concept is based on the idea of flexibility and maintaining a stable living enivironment in response to changes that occur around us. It allows occupants to reconfigure their living space as their needs change. And, ultimately, it should help the elderly "age in place," and maintain their independence for as long as possible.

We invite you to explore this concept and welcome your feedback and comments.
